Microsoft Office 2011 out for Mac
Microsoft has launched the Apple version of its productivity suite, the Microsoft Office 2011. The package comes with a new version of Microsoft Outlook that has been specially built for Apple’s Mac. The suite supports those cloud based services Windows users have since the launch of Microsoft Office 2010 for this platform.
The reason for launching Microsoft Office for a competitor’s operating system is simple: although the platform is completely different, there are lots of Mac users in this “Windows-centric” world that need to use Microsoft Office. There are also a lot of users who, although they use a Mac for every other task, they prefer to use Microsoft Office.
With the launch of Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, Microsoft offers its users the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and a Mac-specific version of Microsoft Outlook – this one for the first time. The suite works with Microsoft Exchange and is compatible with Microsoft’s cloud-based service, the Office 365.
Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac is available in 13 languages.
Panda Security Launches Panda Antivirus for Mac
Panda Security has announced the launch of Panda Antivirus for Mac. This new solution delivers comprehensive protection against malware affecting Mac OS and Mac OS X; it also prevents Mac users from transmitting malware to other users of Windows and Linux operating systems.

Apple Mac OS X Updated
Apple has decided to launch the mid-2010 update for the Apple Mac OS X.
The new version – The Mac OS X v10.6.4 Update iMac (Mid 2010) – contains all components released on the 15th of June with the version 10.6.4 update and several components specifically designed for the new line of iMacs.
Compatibility and performance related updates for the new iMacs were included in this update.
According to Apple, this update improves compatibility with large format SDXC memory cards and introduces support for the freshly launched Apple Magic Trackpad, a wireless navigation device similar to the trackpads found on MacBook and MacBook Pro models with multi-touch support.
The Magic Trackpad works with all iMac models and can be bought for $69. Read more
Bento Template Exchange showcases real-world uses and downloadable templates
Templates demonstrate the versatility of popular personal database for Mac
FileMaker, Inc. unveiled the Bento Template Exchange where Mac users can post and browse many real-world uses of Bento, the personal database from FileMaker that’s as easy to use as a Mac. People interested in Bento can even download templates and use them with a trial or full version of Bento 2 .
A Bento template is a pre-designed database form, but without any data. A visitor who downloads, for example, the “My Wine Cellar” template, has a beautiful ready-to-use wine tracking form — complete with fields for winery, vintage, price and more — and can enter data for their own wine collection – or copy and paste existing information from spreadsheets such as Excel or Numbers. Plus, templates can be customized to meet each individual’s unique needs.
